| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Alfred Oscar "Al" Sharp of Moline, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on December 7, 2022; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Al Sharp was born in Chicago to William Alfred | ||||||
6 | and Nina Ruth (Hosford) Sharp on May 21, 1934; he married | ||||||
7 | Juanita Marie Nelson in Moline at Riverside United Methodist | ||||||
8 | Church on October 26, 1957; he served in the U.S. Army from | ||||||
9 | 1957 to 1959 in Germany; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Al Sharp was previously employed as a | ||||||
11 | patternmaker at the John Deere and Voss Pattern Shop; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Al Sharp started Boy Scouts of America Troop 383 | ||||||
13 | with close friends from his church and served as the | ||||||
14 | Scoutmaster for more than 40 years; he had previously served | ||||||
15 | as Scoutmaster for a group of army officers' sons in Germany | ||||||
16 | and at the Logan School; he received numerous awards and | ||||||
17 | recognitions for his commitment to scouting, including the | ||||||
18 | Silver Beaver Award and the Vigil Honor of the Order of the | ||||||
19 | Arrow; and

20 | WHEREAS, Al Sharp was a member of Christ United Methodist | ||||||
21 | Church in East Moline, where he was a trustee and helped with |

1 | many odd jobs; he was a member of the Wesleyans Group and | ||||||
2 | served on many committees; he was also a member of the Masonic | ||||||
3 | Lodge; his hobby was building things with wood; he went on an | ||||||
4 | Honor Flight with his daughter, Chris, as his chaperone in | ||||||
5 | 2021; and

6 | WHEREAS, Al Sharp was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
7 | his brothers, Harold (Mary), Bill (Venita), and Don Sharp; his | ||||||
8 | nephew, Jerry Sharp; and his niece, Karen Sharp; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Al Sharp is survived by his wife, Juanita; his | ||||||
10 | children, Michael Alfred (Laura) Sharp, Christine (Jerry) | ||||||
11 | McNulty, and Donna Sharp; his grandchildren, Jillian, Martin, | ||||||
12 | Erik, Christina, Kaylee, and Timothy; and his | ||||||
13 | great-grandchildren, Alexa, Isaac, Matthew, Emma, and Aiden; | ||||||
14 | therefore, be it

15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
17 | Alfred Oscar "Al" Sharp and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
18 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
19 | further

20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
21 | presented to the family of Al Sharp as an expression of our | ||||||
22 | deepest sympathy.
