2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Glenn Joseph "Joe" Ponitz of Marengo, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on January 21, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Joe Ponitz was born in Belvidere to Glenn Curtiss | ||||||
6 | and Mildred A. (Andrews) Ponitz on June 2, 1954; he married | ||||||
7 | Kathleen Pflug at Zion Lutheran Church in McHenry on May 28, | ||||||
8 | 1977; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Joe Ponitz retired from the Illinois State Toll | ||||||
10 | Highway Authority after 27 years of service; he was also a | ||||||
11 | member of the Marengo Fire Department for 35 years; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Joe Ponitz was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran | ||||||
13 | Church; he enjoyed woodworking, target shooting, the lake | ||||||
14 | house, and spending time with his family; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Joe Ponitz was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
16 | his brother, Randy; and his brothers-in-law, Gordon Townsend | ||||||
17 | and Steve Johnson; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Joe Ponitz is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his | ||||||
19 | sons, Joseph (Sarah) Ponitz and Adam (Carrie) Ponitz; his | ||||||
20 | grandchildren, Sydney, Ayden, Felicity, and Max Ponitz; his |

2 | Dumproff, and Cecilia Johnson; and his many nieces and nephews; | ||||||

4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
6 | Glenn Joseph "Joe" Ponitz and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
7 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
