2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Carleton "Tex" Munday of Normal, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on August 14, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Carleton Munday was born to Adlai S. and Elizabeth | ||||||
6 | Smith Munday in 1922; at the outbreak of World War Two, he | ||||||
7 | enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps; he served as a B-24 pilot | ||||||
8 | and flew 51 missions in the China-Burma-India Theater; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Carleton Munday worked for AT&T Long Lines in | ||||||
10 | Springfield and Peoria for 29 years; after moving to Normal, he | ||||||
11 | was employed by State Farm Insurance for 17 years until his | ||||||
12 | retirement in 1986; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Carleton Munday was known for his honesty, | ||||||
14 | loyalty, patience, and positive outlook; he was a proud veteran | ||||||
15 | who epitomized the qualities of the Greatest Generation; he | ||||||
16 | loved his family, had a zest for life, and was involved in his | ||||||
17 | church and the community; he was a lifelong fan of the Cubs and | ||||||
18 | the Fighting Illini and loved playing golf; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Carleton Munday was preceded in death by his | ||||||
20 | parents and his wife of 72 years, Virginia Collyer Munday; and

1 | WHEREAS, Carleton Munday is survived by his three children, | ||||||
2 | Gary (Lucille) Munday, Sandy (Paul) Hickman, and Carla (Ed) | ||||||
3 | Books; his six grandchildren; and his 14 great-grandchildren; | ||||||
4 | therefore, be it

5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

7 | Carleton "Tex" Munday and extend our sincere
condolences to his | ||||||
8 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it | ||||||
