2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Gerald A. "Jerry" Soberg of Harvard, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on August 9, 2014; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Jerry Soberg was born in Woodstock on April 30, | ||||||
6 | 1946 to Oscar and Clara (nee Rishof) Soberg; he married Kathy | ||||||
7 | E. Morgan on June 7, 1969 in Crystal Lake; he served in the | ||||||
8 | United States' Army from 1966 to 1968 and was stationed in | ||||||
9 | Germany; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Jerry Soberg was a heavy equipment operator for | ||||||
11 | Gluth Brothers Construction in Woodstock; he loved building and | ||||||
12 | remodeling homes, including his own; for over 25 years he was a | ||||||
13 | member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150; | ||||||
14 | and

15 | WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Papa", Jerry Soberg was | ||||||
16 | an avid flyer and builder of RC Planes and was involved with | ||||||
17 | the Big Foot RC Flyers club; he enjoyed spending summers at | ||||||
18 | Green Lake, Wisconsin, either tubing, boating, skiing, or | ||||||
19 | riding on the golf cart with his grandchildren; he also enjoyed | ||||||
20 | teaching all of his grandkids how to operate his skid loader; | ||||||

1 | WHEREAS, Jerry Soberg was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
2 | brothers, Marvin, Orville, Donald, Raymond, and Robert; | ||||||
3 | sisters, Eleanor Krich and Charlotte Olsson; and father and | ||||||
4 | mother-in-law, Franklin and Esther Morgan; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Jerry Soberg is survived by his wife of 45 years, | ||||||
6 | Kathy; his son, Troy (Jessica) Soberg; his daughter, Sandi | ||||||
7 | (Brad) Bronson-Kodl; his grandchildren, Preston, Parker, | ||||||
8 | Delaney Bronson, Joe Soberg, and Dougie Miller; a brother, | ||||||
9 | Dewayne (Mary) Soberg; a sister Margaret Embry; | ||||||
10 | sisters-in-law, Loretta, Vickie, and Pat Soberg; and many | ||||||
11 | nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and dear | ||||||
12 | friends; therefore, be it

13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
15 | Gerald A. "Jerry" Soberg, and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
16 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
17 | further

18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
19 | presented to the family of Jerry Soberg as an expression of our | ||||||
20 | deepest sympathy.
