SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Charles L. Thompson of Moline, who passed
away on February 20, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Charles Thompson was born on October 4, 1933 in
Moline; his parents were Oddress and Mayme (nee Wiley)
Thompson; he married Marilyn Ellis on July 5, 1953 in Moline;
and
WHEREAS, Charles Thompson was a United States Marine who
served in the Korean War; and
WHEREAS, Charles Thompson last worked at Quest Diagnostics
in Davenport and had numerous and diverse interests and
occupations throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, Charles Thompson enjoyed traveling, including his
trips on cruise ships, making jewelry, cars, and magic tricks;
and
WHEREAS, Charles Thompson was preceded in death by his
sons, Gary, Walter, and Chucky Thompson; and
WHEREAS, Charles Thompson is survived by his wife, Marilyn;

his daughters, Faith Duszak and Hope Douglas; his 6
grandchildren; his 14 great-grandchildren; and his sister,
Emma (Jerry) Wynes; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
family and friends, mourn the passing of Charles L. Thompson;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Charles Thompson as an expression of
our sympathy.
