2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Timothy Earl "Rock" McCoy of Champaign, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on December 22, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Timothy McCoy was born to Joann and Wilson McCoy | ||||||
6 | Sr. in Jackson, Mississippi on April 26, 1967; he graduated | ||||||
7 | from Champaign Central High School in 1985; he then enlisted in | ||||||
8 | the United States Army and served in active duty during the | ||||||
9 | Gulf War; he was honorably discharged in 1993; he earned his | ||||||
10 | associate's degree in Special Education from Parkland College | ||||||
11 | and his Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Eastern Illinois | ||||||
12 | University; he married Kimberly Butts in 2006; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Timothy McCoy first worked as a union painter at | ||||||
14 | the University of Illinois until his career moved in a new | ||||||
15 | direction; as a caring, loyal, and devoted individual who | ||||||
16 | genuinely cared for others, he found himself naturally | ||||||
17 | successful as a case manager and mentor for Haven Focused, LLC; | ||||||
18 | and

19 | WHEREAS, Timothy McCoy was involved in his community and | ||||||
20 | was a volunteer coach for the Champaign Park District; he was a | ||||||
21 | strong, compassionate man, a devoted husband and father, a | ||||||
22 | passionate coach and mentor, a loving father-figure, and a |

1 | dedicated son, brother, and faithful friend; he was the rock of | ||||||
2 | his family and for many who knew him; he will be deeply missed; | ||||||
3 | and

4 | WHEREAS, Timothy McCoy was preceded in death by his son, | ||||||
5 | Timothy Earl McCoy Jr.; his father, Wilson McCoy Sr.; and his | ||||||
6 | grandparents, Benjamin Franklin McCoy, Margaret Elizabeth | ||||||
7 | Miles-McCoy, Harry Doss, and Mattie Mae Henderson; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Timothy McCoy is survived by his wife; his son, | ||||||
9 | Joshua Butts; his three daughters, Sidney Butts and Tori and | ||||||
10 | Madison McCoy; his mother, Joann Grayson; his brothers, Wilson | ||||||
11 | McCoy and Eric (Lamillia) Grayson; his sister, Tia Grayson; his | ||||||
12 | six grandchildren, Ayden, Jaya, Joshua Jr., Londyn, Indiya, and | ||||||
13 | Alivia; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; | ||||||
14 | therefore, be it

15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

17 | Timothy Earl "Rock" McCoy and extend our sincere
condolences to | ||||||
18 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it | ||||||

20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

21 | presented to the family of Timothy McCoy as an expression of
