SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Arthur Earl Schulz, who passed away on
July 24, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Arthur Schulz was born on January 17, 1923; his
parents were Bernard C. Schulz and Mary H. Schulz; he married
Dorothy Nicolet on October 7, 1950 at St. Mary's Catholic
Church in Alton; and
WHEREAS, Arthur Schulz attended St. Mary's Grade School in
Alton and Marquette High School, where he graduated in 1940;
and
WHEREAS, Answering his country's call at the outbreak of
World War II, Arthur Schulz was inducted into the United States
Army Air Corps, where he earned his pilot's wings and an
officer's commission; he served with distinction in the Pacific
Theater from 1944 to 1946, earning numerous combat citations as
a P-38 fighter pilot with the famed 475th Fighter Group; and
WHEREAS, After the war, Arthur Schulz had a long and
successful professional career as a sales service manager for
the Owens-Illinois Glass Company; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Schulz was preceded in death by his
parents; his wife, Dorothy; and eight siblings; and
WHEREAS, Arthur Schulz is survived by his children, John
and Marie Schulz, Rebecca and Ron Wilkinson, Eric and Pamela
Schulz, Ned and Jill Schulz, and Marilyn and Dan Erzen; 11
grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
family and friends, mourn the passing of Arthur Earl Schulz;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Arthur Schulz as an expression of
our sympathy.
