2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Matthew F. Parker, Jr. of Rock Island, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on August 4, 2016; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Matthew Parker, Jr. was born on December 21, 1925 | ||||||
6 | in Chicago; his parents were Matthew F. Parker, Sr. and Louella | ||||||
7 | Gordon Parker; he married Katherine Bowen on December 18, 1948 | ||||||
8 | in Moline; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Matthew Parker, Jr. served in the United States | ||||||
10 | Navy during World War II; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Matthew Parker, Jr. attended the University of | ||||||
12 | Illinois; he worked at IH Farmall in Rock Island for 39 years | ||||||
13 | and owned and operated Parker Janitorial Service with his wife | ||||||
14 | for 33 years; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Matthew Parker, Jr. was a member of New Journey | ||||||
16 | African Methodist Episcopal Church in Moline; he was active | ||||||
17 | with the Democratic Party and served as a precinct committeeman | ||||||
18 | for 23 years and as a trustee for Rock Island Township for more | ||||||
19 | than 35 years; he was a member of the Martin Luther King Center | ||||||
20 | Active Club; he was very active as a Freemason, having belonged | ||||||
21 | to King Solomon Lodge No. 20 F & A.M. P.H.A., Tri-Cities |

13 | (Donnie) Childs; his grandchildren, Robert Parker, Brittany | ||||||
14 | Parker, and Xavier Parker; his great-grandchildren, Julian and | ||||||
15 | Jada Parker, Emmanuel Bomar, Cienna Pettit, X'zayviyanah | ||||||
16 | Parker, and Jamaine Jones; his special friend, Thresa Johnson; | ||||||
17 | his special niece, Allison Martin; and several nieces and | ||||||
18 | nephews; therefore, be it

19 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
20 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
21 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Matthew F. Parker, | ||||||
22 | Jr.; and be it further
