2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Gordon L. Ellis of Erie, who passed away | ||||||
4 | on August 16, 2016; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Gordon Ellis was born on February 7, 1930, in | ||||||
6 | Goshen, Indiana; his parents were LeRoy and Florence Clark | ||||||
7 | Ellis; he married Marjorie Plumley on March 22, 1957 in Erie; | ||||||
8 | and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Gordon Ellis served his country in the United | ||||||
10 | States Navy from 1948 to 1952; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Gordon Ellis retired from Consolidated | ||||||
12 | Freightways as a truck driver in 1991 after many years of | ||||||
13 | service; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Gordon Ellis was a train enthusiast and enjoyed | ||||||
15 | his model trains in his basement; he was an avid gardener and | ||||||
16 | loved taking care of his lawn; he also loved spending time with | ||||||
17 | his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and going to the Pink | ||||||
18 | Pony for coffee and Russ's Cafe to play cribbage with the guys; | ||||||
19 | and

20 | WHEREAS, Gordon Ellis was preceded in death by his parents |

1 | and his brothers, Stanley, Melvin, Bob, and Don; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Gordon Ellis is survived by his wife, Marjorie; | ||||||
3 | his children, Sheryl Pequignot, Florence (Dan) Stevens, | ||||||
4 | Carolyn (Steve) Elsik, and Scott (Angela) Ellis; his | ||||||
5 | grandchildren, Craig (Sarah) Pequignot, Josh Pequignot, Andrew | ||||||
6 | Pequignot, Erin (Coty) Shirk, Ryan (Jennifer) Stevens, Lucas | ||||||
7 | Stevens, Alex Stevens, Briana (Aaron) Kapper, Caitlin (Jordan) | ||||||
8 | Speigle, Candace (David) Lutton, and Ethan Ellis; and nine | ||||||
9 | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

10 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
11 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
12 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Gordon L. Ellis; and | ||||||
13 | be it further

14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
15 | presented to the family of Gordon Ellis as an expression of our | ||||||
16 | sympathy.
