SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Werner Schwarz of Moline, who passed away
on September 5, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Werner Schwarz was born in Heide, Germany to
Arnold and Margaretha Lievens Schwarz in 1933; he came to the
United States aboard the S.S. America at the age of 20, without
speaking a word of English; he became a naturalized citizen in
1959 and served two years in Korea with the United States Army;
he married Delphine Ziegler in East Moline on April 30, 1966;
and
WHEREAS, Werner Schwarz served as a carpenter and job
superintendent for Willi Frank & Sons Construction Co. for 18
years before joining the engineering department of Eagle Food
Centers in 1971; he retired from Eagle as the construction
supervisor in 1995; and
WHEREAS, Werner Schwarz was preceded in death by his
parents and his sister, Erika Schwarz; and
WHEREAS, Werner Schwarz is survived by his wife of 50
years, Delphine; his son, Chris (Jill) Schwarz; his daughter,
Stacie Schwarz; his stepgrandson, Andrew Doll; his sister,

Gerda Nagler; his brother, Volker (Ilona) Schwarz; his niece,
Sabine Abu-Shagrah; and his nephews, Heiko Schwarz and Axel
Schwarz; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Werner Schwarz, and extend our sincere condolences to his
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Werner Schwarz as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
