2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Mother Charlotte Elizabeth Eades, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on September 15, 2016; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Mother Charlotte Eades was born on April 24, 1925; | ||||||
6 | her parents were Bishop David Archie Reed and National | ||||||
7 | Evangelist Carrie Lee Reed; she married Archie Lee Eades on | ||||||
8 | January 16, 1949; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Mother Charlotte Eades began her career as an | ||||||
10 | educator at Williams Grant High School in Covington, Kentucky | ||||||
11 | and continued through Chicago Teachers College and Cortez | ||||||
12 | Business College; she later served as Principal of the | ||||||
13 | Tabernacle Christian Academy and as Dean of the Charles H. | ||||||
14 | Mason/William Roberts Bible Institute of First Jurisdiction | ||||||
15 | Illinois; and

16 | WHEREAS, As a member of Reed's Temple Church, Mother | ||||||
17 | Charlotte Eades served on the Program Committee, Trustee Board, | ||||||
18 | and Youth Motivation; she was the first Minister of Music of | ||||||
19 | Reed's Temple Church, where she played the piano and organ; she | ||||||
20 | also conducted revivals, taught Sunday school, worked with the | ||||||
21 | Jail Ministry, and chauffeured elderly mothers at the church; | ||||||

1 | WHEREAS, Prior to her appointment as State Supervisor, | ||||||
2 | Mother Charlotte Eades served as District Missionary to | ||||||
3 | Superintendents Joe B. Reed, Samuel Russell, Ocie Booker, as | ||||||
4 | well as Napoleon Harris, Sr., Assistant Chairman of the | ||||||
5 | District Missionary Unit; she also served as Second Assistant | ||||||
6 | State Supervisor to the late Mother Rosie Hines and First | ||||||
7 | Assistant State Supervisor to the late Mother Carrie Cantrell; | ||||||
8 | and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, In November of 1997, Mother Charlotte Eades was | ||||||
10 | appointed Jurisdictional Supervisor of First Jurisdiction | ||||||
11 | Illinois by Mother Willie Mae Rivers, General Supervisor of the | ||||||
12 | Women's Department of the Church of God in Christ | ||||||
13 | International; as Jurisdictional Supervisor, she provided | ||||||
14 | leadership and training for women representing over 100 | ||||||
15 | churches and several new innovations were organized under her | ||||||
16 | tenure; she organized the Women's Institute Hour, a monthly | ||||||
17 | training session for women of all ages; she was also the | ||||||
18 | organizer and founder of the "New Generation", designed for the | ||||||
19 | purpose of training young women from the ages of 20 to 45, the | ||||||
20 | Annual Women's Workshop, and the Annual Women's Retreat, a | ||||||
21 | weekend of spiritual and social elevation; and
| ||||||
22 | WHEREAS, Mother Charlotte Eades was appointed as a member | ||||||
23 | of the Advisory Board of the National Women's Department and |

1 | Regional Supervisor of the Heartland Area, comprising the | ||||||
2 | states of Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Dakota, South | ||||||
3 | Dakota, Minnesota, and Canada; she was also a National Adjutant | ||||||
4 | Sister and served Presiding Bishop Louis Henry Ford, Bishop | ||||||
5 | Shepard Little, and Bishop Ocie Booker; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Mother Charlotte Eades was preceded in death by | ||||||
7 | her husband, Archie Lee; her son, Archie Lee, Jr.; her parents; | ||||||
8 | and her siblings, Marion Rosemon, Bishop David Reed, Jr., James | ||||||
9 | Lee, Milton, Joe B. Reed, and Mary Lillian Frances; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Mother Charlotte Eades is survived by her | ||||||
11 | daughter, Marion D. Pearson; her daughter-in-law, Melissa; her | ||||||
12 | grandchildren, Kristen, Gregory, Jr., Nikita, and Talaya; many | ||||||
13 | nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends; the Reed's | ||||||
14 | Temple family; and the First Jurisdiction Illinois family; | ||||||
15 | therefore, be it

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | ||||||
18 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Mother Charlotte | ||||||
19 | Elizabeth Eades; and be it further
| ||||||
20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
21 | presented to the family of Mother Charlotte Eades as an | ||||||
22 | expression of our sympathy.
