SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Mother Charlotte Elizabeth Eades, who
passed away on September 15, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Mother Charlotte Eades was born on April 24, 1925;
her parents were Bishop David Archie Reed and National
Evangelist Carrie Lee Reed; she married Archie Lee Eades on
January 16, 1949; and
WHEREAS, Mother Charlotte Eades began her career as an
educator at Williams Grant High School in Covington, Kentucky
and continued through Chicago Teachers College and Cortez
Business College; she later served as Principal of the
Tabernacle Christian Academy and as Dean of the Charles H.
Mason/William Roberts Bible Institute of First Jurisdiction
Illinois; and
WHEREAS, As a member of Reed's Temple Church, Mother
Charlotte Eades served on the Program Committee, Trustee Board,
and Youth Motivation; she was the first Minister of Music of
Reed's Temple Church, where she played the piano and organ; she
also conducted revivals, taught Sunday school, worked with the
Jail Ministry, and chauffeured elderly mothers at the church;
and

WHEREAS, Prior to her appointment as State Supervisor,
Mother Charlotte Eades served as District Missionary to
Superintendents Joe B. Reed, Samuel Russell, Ocie Booker, as
well as Napoleon Harris, Sr., Assistant Chairman of the
District Missionary Unit; she also served as Second Assistant
State Supervisor to the late Mother Rosie Hines and First
Assistant State Supervisor to the late Mother Carrie Cantrell;
and
WHEREAS, In November of 1997, Mother Charlotte Eades was
appointed Jurisdictional Supervisor of First Jurisdiction
Illinois by Mother Willie Mae Rivers, General Supervisor of the
Women's Department of the Church of God in Christ
International; as Jurisdictional Supervisor, she provided
leadership and training for women representing over 100
churches and several new innovations were organized under her
tenure; she organized the Women's Institute Hour, a monthly
training session for women of all ages; she was also the
organizer and founder of the "New Generation", designed for the
purpose of training young women from the ages of 20 to 45, the
Annual Women's Workshop, and the Annual Women's Retreat, a
weekend of spiritual and social elevation; and
WHEREAS, Mother Charlotte Eades was appointed as a member
of the Advisory Board of the National Women's Department and

Regional Supervisor of the Heartland Area, comprising the
states of Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Dakota, South
Dakota, Minnesota, and Canada; she was also a National Adjutant
Sister and served Presiding Bishop Louis Henry Ford, Bishop
Shepard Little, and Bishop Ocie Booker; and
WHEREAS, Mother Charlotte Eades was preceded in death by
her husband, Archie Lee; her son, Archie Lee, Jr.; her parents;
and her siblings, Marion Rosemon, Bishop David Reed, Jr., James
Lee, Milton, Joe B. Reed, and Mary Lillian Frances; and
WHEREAS, Mother Charlotte Eades is survived by her
daughter, Marion D. Pearson; her daughter-in-law, Melissa; her
grandchildren, Kristen, Gregory, Jr., Nikita, and Talaya; many
nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends; the Reed's
Temple family; and the First Jurisdiction Illinois family;
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
family and friends, mourn the passing of Mother Charlotte
Elizabeth Eades; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Mother Charlotte Eades as an
expression of our sympathy.
