| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Clyde D. Sedam of Andalusia, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on October 5, 2016; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Clyde Sedam was born in Buffalo, Iowa to C. Lester | ||||||
6 | and
Emma Verstring Sedam on April 30, 1920; he married Lola L. | ||||||
7 | "Peggy" Garvey in Rock Island on November 1,
1947; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Clyde "Blondie" Sedam served in United States Army | ||||||
9 | during World War II from January of 1942 to October of 1945; he | ||||||
10 | was the
last living member of "Spearhead" 3rd Armored Division, | ||||||
11 | Company A; he landed on Normandy Beach and served in the | ||||||
12 | European Theater; he was a POW and was liberated by American | ||||||
13 | Troops; he was a recipient of the Bronze Medal; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Clyde Sedam and his wife moved to Andalusia in | ||||||
15 | 1951 to raise their family; he was employed at the I.H. Farmall | ||||||
16 | Works in Rock Island for over 33
years; he retired in 1980; he | ||||||
17 | farmed the family farm from 1971 to 1994; in the later years, | ||||||
18 | he farmed with his brother, Clark; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Clyde Sedam was an
Andalusia Volunteer Fireman and | ||||||
20 | served as Assistant Chief; he served as the Road Commissioner | ||||||
21 | for Andalusia Township; he was a member of Community Baptist |

1 | Church in Andalusia and Reynolds American Legion Post 1166; he | ||||||
2 | served as Scoutmaster for Troop
220 Boy Scouts of America; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Clyde Sedam enjoyed gardening, fishing, drafting | ||||||
4 | house plans, and
spending time with family and friends; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Clyde Sedam was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
6 | his son, Daryl Sedam;
his son-in-law, John Balmer; his sister, | ||||||
7 | Lucille Nebiker; and his sister-in-law,
Ressa Mae Sedam; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Clyde Sedam is survived by his wife, Lola "Peggy"; | ||||||
9 | his children, Brenda (Ted) Billingsley, Donald (Kathy) Sedam, | ||||||
10 | and Bonnie Balmer; seven grandchildren; 13
| ||||||
11 | great-grandchildren; his siblings, Caroline (Jake) Gluba, | ||||||
12 | Clark
(Shirley) Sedam, and Chester Sedam; his brother-in-law, | ||||||
13 | Roy Nebiker; and many
nieces, nephews, and other family; | ||||||
14 | therefore, be it

15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
17 | Clyde D. Sedam, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
18 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
19 | further
| ||||||
20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
21 | presented to the family of Clyde Sedam as an expression of our |
