| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of former Illinois State Representative, Sam | ||||||
4 | W. Wolf of Granite City, who passed away on November 4, 2016; | ||||||
5 | and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Sam Wolf was born on January 4, 1919 in Venice; | ||||||
7 | his parents were Earl and Elizabeth Wolf; he married Mae Frank | ||||||
8 | on November 9, 1946; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Sam Wolf proudly served his country in the United | ||||||
10 | States Army during World War II; he was inducted as a Private | ||||||
11 | in January of 1941 and discharged as a Chief Warrant Officer in | ||||||
12 | December of 1945 after having served in the Pacific and | ||||||
13 | European theatres; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Sam Wolf served as State Representative of the | ||||||
15 | 56th District from 1974 to 1992; during his career, he was | ||||||
16 | instrumental in having the name of Belleville Area College | ||||||
17 | changed to Southwestern Illinois College, that named their | ||||||
18 | Granite City Campus as the Sam Wolf Granite City Campus in | ||||||
19 | honor of his work; and

20 | WHEREAS, Sam Wolf was a Southwestern Illinois College | ||||||
21 | Trustee and was elected in 1995; he served as president of the |

1 | Granite City Real Estate Board and the Granite City Kiwanis | ||||||
2 | Club; he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Tri City | ||||||
3 | Chamber of Commerce; he was elected to serve as a delegate to | ||||||
4 | the Democratic Mid-Term National Conference in December of | ||||||
5 | 1974; he was elected to serve as a Democratic National | ||||||
6 | Committeeman from Illinois in June of 1975; he served as | ||||||
7 | secretary-treasurer of the Madison County Democratic Central | ||||||
8 | Committee from 1970 until his passing; he also owned and | ||||||
9 | operated a real estate and insurance business in Granite City | ||||||
10 | for many years; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Sam Wolf was preceded in death by his parents; his | ||||||
12 | wife, Mae; his son, Larry Wolf; his brother, Carl Wolf; and his | ||||||
13 | daughter-in-law, Charlotte Diane Wolf; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Sam Wolf is survived by his son, Dave (Candy) | ||||||
15 | Wolf; his sister, Shirley Tretter; his daughter-in-law, Susan | ||||||
16 | Wolf; his grandchildren, Renee Wolf, Damon (Rose) Wolf, Erin | ||||||
17 | Wolf, Dave (Sheila) Wolf, and Tanya Kennedy; his | ||||||
18 | great-grandchildren, Megan Morse, Jake Wolf, J.D. Wolf, | ||||||
19 | Mackenzie Kennedy, and Gavin Kennedy; and many extended family | ||||||
20 | members and friends; therefore, be it

21 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
22 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
23 | family and friends, mourn the passing of former Illinois State |
