RESOLUTION No. 15
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging the Indiana Department
of Transportation to designate the entire length of U.S. 41 as a Purple
Heart Trail.
Whereas, It is fitting and proper to never forget those who
have given their lives and shed their blood in defense of this
great nation;
Whereas, A Purple Heart Trail system is well established
throughout a large part of the United States interstate
highway system and the United States designated highway
system in the lower 48 states as well as highways in Alaska,
Guam, and Puerto Rico;
Whereas, Indiana is located in an area that is part of the
National Purple Heart Trail system and will add credence to
those dedicated routes;
Whereas, Indiana should be proud to join this worthy effort
to establish a Purple Heart Trail across our great country;
Whereas, The placement of signs indicating Purple Heart
Trail will show that Indiana is a part of this nationally
existing system; and
Whereas, U.S. 41 is an excellent choice to establish the
Purple Heart Trail in the state of Indiana: Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly urges the Indiana Department of Transportation to name U.S. 41 as a part of the Purple Heart Trail that exists throughout the U.S. highway system.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Transportation and Raymond Watts, Patriot Commander of #669 Purple Heart Association.
