A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring Melanie Park, Indiana's 2012 Teacher of the Year.

RESOLUTION
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring Melanie Park.
Whereas, Melanie Park is Indiana's 2012 Teacher of the
Year;
Whereas, Melanie Park, a reading remediation teacher for
grades six, seven, and eight at Riverview Middle School in
Huntington, has been teaching for over 10 years and is well
known for her enthusiasm and passion for education;
Whereas, In addition to her classroom duties, Melanie Park
also teaches an online course for teachers on methods to
teach writing;
Whereas, Melanie believes "all students, regardless of their
life circumstances, can learn", according to Dr. Tony
Bennett, Superintendent of Public Instruction, and she serves
as an effective and inspirational teacher who will be
remembered by her students;
Whereas, Melanie Park earned her undergraduate degree
and Master of Science in language education at Indiana
University in Bloomington;
Whereas, As Indiana's 2012 Teacher of the Year, Melanie
Park is the state's nominee for the 2012 National Teacher of
the Year honor; and
Whereas, It is fitting that excellence in our state's teachers be given widespread recognition: Therefore,
SECTION 1. That on behalf of the people of Indiana, we
congratulate Melanie Park on being selected Indiana's 2012 Teacher of
the Year.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to Melanie Park and
the principal of Riverview Middle School.
