RESOLUTION



        A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring Daniel Wodicka.

    Whereas, Daniel Wodicka, the quarterback/free safety for Class 3A state champion West Lafayette High School, was named the 2009 Indiana Mr. Football, receiving 22 of 51 votes for the highest individual state honor in the sport;

    Whereas, In the championship game at Lucas Oil Stadium, Daniel rushed for 115 yards, passed for 158 yards, had four tackles, and a fumble recovery to lead his team to a 24-10 victory over Evansville Memorial;

    Whereas, Before his senior year, Daniel had been a three year starter at wide receiver and had teamed with Matt Lancaster to share the quarterback duties;

    Whereas, Daniel easily became the sole quarterback his senior year, completing 60 percent of his passes for 2,181 yards and 26 touchdowns and rushing for 1,468 yards and 23 touchdowns;

    Whereas, As accomplished in the classroom as on the football field, Daniel has a perfect 4.0 grade point average and is on track to be the class valedictorian;

    Whereas, Daniel Wodicka set several individual and school records, including gaining 3,649 yards in total offense in a season and scoring 52 touchdowns and 312 points, and throwing 215 consecutive passes at the end of the season without an interception;



    Whereas, Daniel also was named the Army's 2009 Indiana Iron Man of the Year;

    Whereas, In addition to being named Mr. Football, Daniel was also the recipient of the Phil Eskew Mental Attitude Award after the Class 3A state championship; and

    Whereas, The Indiana General Assembly wishes to acknowledge the accomplishments of Daniel Wodicka and wishes him continued success in the future, both on and off the football field: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives

of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,

the Senate concurring:


    SECTION 1. That, on behalf of the people of Indiana, we congratulate Daniel Wodicka for winning the 2009 Mr. Football Award and applaud him for his success throughout his high school football career.
    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to Daniel Wodicka and his family, principal Ron Shriner, and superintendent Dr. Rocky Killion.
