Synopsis: Age of candidate for state convention delegate. Provides that a person who will be 18 years old by the date of a general, municipal, or special election is entitled to be a candidate for delegate to a state convention that nominates candidates for offices to be voted on at that general, municipal, or special election.

SENATE BILL No. 82



    A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning elections.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

SOURCE: IC 3-8-1-32; (11)SB0082.1.1. -->     SECTION 1. IC 3-8-1-32 IS AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2011]: Sec. 32. (a) Except as provided in subsection (b), a candidate for:
        (1) precinct committeeman; or
        (2) delegate to a state convention;
of a political party in the state whose nominee received at least ten percent (10%) of the total vote cast for secretary of state at the last election must comply with any candidate requirement set by state party rules.
     (b) Notwithstanding any state party rule to the contrary, a person who will meet the age requirements of IC 3-7-13-1 on the date of a general, municipal, or special election is entitled to be a candidate for delegate to a state convention that nominates candidates for offices to be voted on at that general, municipal, or special election.
