A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing Chris Lytle for his
outstanding mixed martial arts (MMA) career.

RESOLUTION No. _____
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing Chris Lytle for his
outstanding mixed martial arts (MMA) career.
Whereas, Chris Lytle is a mixed martial arts (MMA)
fighter who has had an impressive career thus far. In
addition to training at the Integrated Fighting Academy,
where he specializes in boxing, wrestling, and jiu-jitsu, Chris
works as a full-time firefighter in the Indianapolis area;
Whereas, Chris is currently fighting as a welterweight
(170 lbs) in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and
is expected to fight Carlos Condit at UFC 127 in Sydney,
Australia on February 27, 2011;
Whereas, Chris's first fight was against Bo Hershberger
on February 13, 1999 in Muncie, Indiana. Chris won the
fight by submission. That first year, Chris fought seven more
times, five of them at Pancrase tournaments in Japan;
Whereas, Chris has held championships in the Hook N'
Shoot and Absolute Fighting Championship promotions.
Additionally, he won the Cage Rage World Welterweight
Championship in 2005;
Whereas, Chris's 3 year boxing career was highlighted by winning the Indiana Boxing Association's Light Heavyweight Title in 2003, defeating John Moore by
technical knockout (TKO). He finished his boxing career
with a record of 13 wins, 1 defeat, and 1 draw;
Whereas, Chris's MMA career took off when he competed
in the Ultimate Fighter 4 on Spike TV. He reached the finals,
losing a split decision to Matt Serra;
Whereas, In Chris's career as an MMA fighter and boxer,
he has never been knocked out or submitted to defeat;
Whereas, Chris has won 7 UFC bonuses during his
career, tying him with Anderson Silva for the most all-time
in UFC. Chris's 7 UFC bonuses include 4 Fight of the
Nights, 2 Submission of the Night Honors, and 1 Knockout of
the Night;
Whereas, Chris's most recent fight was against Matt
Serra at UFC 119, held in Indianapolis, Indiana on
September 25, 2010. Chris defeated Serra by unanimous
decision, avenging his split decision loss against Serra in the
Ultimate Fighter 4 Season Finale;
Whereas, The victory over Serra was Chris's fourth in a
row, bringing his overall UFC record to .500 (9 and 9).
Chris's overall career record in MMA stands at 30 wins, 17
defeats, and 5 draws;
Whereas, Chris has demonstrated time and time again
his dedication and passion for the sport, through
his
commitment to the local community, and to his old school,
Southport High School, where he still participates in
workouts with the wrestling team;
Whereas, This former Southport High School wrestling
coach has inspired several up-and-coming MMA fighters
within the city, and has helped athletes like former Purdue
football star Matt Mitrione develop into legitimate UFC
fighters; and
Whereas, There is no better fighter to represent Indiana than Chris Lytle, and he is to be commended for his outstanding career thus far: Therefore,
SECTION 1. The Indiana Senate recognizes Chris Lytle for his
outstanding MMA career.
SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to
transmit a copy of this Resolution to Chris Lytle.
