commitment to safety and professional excellence, and congratulating
him on attaining the distinctive honor of driving two-million miles
accident-free.

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing Steve Sallee for
his commitment to safety and professional excellence, and
congratulating him on attaining the distinctive honor of driving
two-million miles accident-free.
Whereas, Every industry has certain milestones that
represent the achievement of professional excellence reached
by only the most dedicated of industry practitioners and the
best in a business;
Whereas, For the trucking industry, the most recognized
measure of professional success is when a driver reaches one
million miles of accident-free driving, providing consistent
performance in the safe and reliable delivery of goods to
customers;
Whereas, Over the company's 27-year history more than
1,500 Con-way Freight driver sales representatives have
reached the one-million-safe driving milestone, while more
than 100 have driven two million miles accident-free;
Whereas, This is an extraordinary professional achievement, and Steve Sallee of Muncie has attained this distinctive honor. Steve recently completed two million miles of accident-free driving. For a professional truck driver, it is the culmination of a decade or more of superior performance, and recognition as one of the industry's most
elite professionals;
Whereas, Steve is a driver sales representative for Con-
way Freight, a less-than-truckload (LTL) freight carrier and
subsidiary of Con-way Inc. Steve has safely driven two
million miles since 1988, and recently reached the two-
million-mile mark. The company plans to recognize Steve's
achievement in a ceremony at the Richmond, Indiana service
center, where Steve is based;
Whereas, Steve's impressive accomplishments highlight
the personal and professional commitment to safety of the
employees who go behind the wheel of a truck every day, and
demonstrate superior safety performance on the highways, in
the service centers, and at the customers' facilities;
Whereas, Steve has worked for Con-way Freight since
1988 and has been a professional truck driver for 31 years.
Steve was previously recognized by the company for reaching
one million miles of accident-free driving and has received
two Master Truck Driver Awards from the Indiana Motor
Truck Association;
Whereas, Steve's route takes him from Richmond to
Salem, Indiana for a round trip of approximately 300 miles;
and
Whereas, Steve has been married for 34 years to his wife
Paula. The couple has two daughters, Ashley and Suzanne,
and two grandchildren, Brice and Eden. In his spare time,
Steve enjoys restoring vintage cars and volunteering to
rescue animals in need: Therefore,
SECTION 1. The Indiana General Assembly recognizes Steve Sallee for his commitment to safety and professional excellence, and
congratulates him on attaining the distinctive honor of two-million
miles of accident-free driving.
SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to
transmit a copy of this Resolution to Steve Sallee and Con-way Freight.
