SENATE RESOLUTION

     MADAM PRESIDENT:

    I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating New Albany-Floyd County School Corporation on their recognition as a national Professional Learning Community model school.

    Whereas, New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School Corporation was recently named as the only Indiana school district to be recognized by Solution Tree for its quality and success in creating a professional learning community (PLC);

    Whereas, Professional Learning Communities at Work are schools and districts where educators understand that the key to improving student learning is an ongoing process of learning for the adults who are charged with teaching these students;

    Whereas, New Albany-Floyd County School Corporation has made learning a fundamental purpose, established a collaborative culture combined with job-embedded professional development, and based the schools' effectiveness on results instead of intentions;

    Whereas, School districts are recognized based on strict criteria. After three years of implementing the PLC at Work

process, the school corporation has begun to see tangible results; and

    Whereas, Impressive test score improvement and the strong example being set by New Albany-Floyd County School Corporation are worthy of recognition: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate congratulates the New Albany-Floyd County School Corporation for their recognition as a national Professional Learning Community model school.
    SECTION 2. That the Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to New Albany-Floyd County School Corporation.
