SENATE RESOLUTION


     MADAM PRESIDENT:

    I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating Alexandra Hochstetler.

    Whereas, Alexandra Hochstetler is the 2013 Distinguished Young Woman of Indiana;

    Whereas, Alexandra is a senior at Northridge High School in Middlebury;

    Whereas, Alexandra was named the Distinguished Young Woman of Middlebury in August 2012 after competing in five categories, which included scholastics, an interview, fitness, talent, and self-expression;

    Whereas, Distinguished Young Women is the largest and oldest national scholarship program for high school girls;

    Whereas, Alexandra will represent Indiana as she competes for the 2013 Distinguished Young Woman of America title;

    Whereas, Alexandra is the daughter of Nathan and Rhonda Hochstetler. She plans to major in biology at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, with the goal of

later attending medical school;

    Whereas, Alexandra is very involved in school organizations, an active volunteer in her community, and a talented pianist; and

    Whereas, Alexandra is an outstanding representative for the Hoosier state, and her accomplishments deserve special recognition: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:


    SECTION 1. The Indiana Senate congratulates Alexandra Hochstetler on her selection as the 2013 Distinguished Young Woman of Indiana and wishes her success in the national competition.
    SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Alexandra Hochstetler.
