A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating Tim Tuttle on
receiving the Silver Helmet Award and thanking him for his
service to our country.
, read first time and referred to Committee on
MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating Tim Tuttle on
receiving the Silver Helmet Award and thanking him for his
service to our country.
Whereas, Tim Tuttle enlisted in the United States Army in
June of 1962. He completed basic training at Fort Knox,
Kentucky, and received his assignment to the 3rd Medical Tank
Battalion, 40th Armored Division, 1st Calvary Division. Tim
served in Korea before his honorable medical discharge in
June of 1963;
Whereas, Tim belonged to the original AMVETS Post 12
in Muncie and transferred to Harford City Post 23 upon the
closing of the Muncie Post. While at Post 23, Tim served in
several offices including three terms as Post Commander. He
also began his fourteen-year term as Department of Indiana
Sons of AMVETS coordinator;
Whereas, In the Department, Tim served five years as the 2nd District Commander, two years as Indiana Junior Vice Commander, and several years as President of the Indiana AMVETS Past Commanders club. He was also Department Saddest from 2008-2010. Currently, Tim is starting a seven-
year term as trustee for the Indiana State Department;
Whereas, Tim is very involved at the local level as well.
He serves as Trustee and Service Officer for the AMVETS Post
12 in Muncie, Indiana. As a van driver, he also transports
veterans from his area to VA Medical Centers, and has been
van supervisor for 7 years;
Whereas, The encouragement and advice Tim was able to
give to the Department of Indiana Sons as they became a true
part of the AMVETS family, is a point of personal pride for him.
His dedication and assistance to the Muncie Squadron #12 of
the Sons of AMVETS was instrumental to the success of the
squadron. Tim has never missed a meeting or function of the
Sons of Post 12 over the course of many years. His
commitment to the Sons of Post 12 has been graciously
recognized by the organization; and
Whereas, Tim Tuttle has held an elected or appointed
position for the Department of Indiana AMVETS for over 36
years. The General Assembly extends sincere gratitude to Tim
Tuttle for his service to this country and involvement in the
local veteran's community: Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate congratulates Tim Tuttle on receiving the Silver Helmet Award, and expresses sincere gratitude to him for his service to our country.
SECTION 2. That the Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Tim Tuttle.
