The committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security to whom were referred the petition (accompanied by bill House, No. 2261) of George N. Peterson, Jr. further regulating excavation permits; the petition (accompanied by bill House, No. 2273) of Michael F. Rush, Thomas M. Menino and Angelo M. Scaccia for legislation to provide concurrent police authority for Massachusetts Port Authority properties; and the petition (accompanied by bill, House, No. 4401) of Charles A. Murphy relative to elevator regulations; reports recommending that the accompanying order (House, No. 4987) ought to be adopted.

Ordered , That the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security be authorized to sit during a recess of the General Court to make an investigation and study of house documents numbered 2261, 2273, and 4401 . 

Said committee shall report to the General Court the results of its investigation and study and its recommendations, if any, together with drafts of legislation necessary to carry such recommendations into effect, by filing the same with the Clerk of the House of Representatives on or before December 31, 2010.
