An Act relative to the preliminary election in the city of Taunton in the year 2009.



                Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1.  Notwithstanding the charter of the city of Taunton or any general or special law to the contrary, there shall be no preliminary election in the city of Taunton, as otherwise required, on Tuesday, September 22, 2009, for the office of mayor, of the position on the Taunton municipal council, for the positions on school committee, for the position on the Taunton zoning board of appeals, for the position of the Taunton planning board, for the position on the Taunton municipal light plant commission. The candidates whose nomination papers for these offices have been duly certified shall be considered nominated.

SECTION 2.This act shall take effect upon its passage.
