A bill to exclude doulas from attending health care professionals for purposes of section 28 of article I of the state constitution of 1963.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 1. (1) As used in section 28 of article I of the state constitution of 1963, "attending health care professional" does not include a doula.

(2) As used in this section, "doula" means any of the following:

(a) A professional trained in childbirth who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to an expectant mother.

(b) An individual who is included on the doula registry maintained by the department of health and human services.
