A bill to amend 1846 RS 66, entitled
"Of estates in dower, by the curtesy, and general provisions
concerning real estate,"
(MCL 554.131 to 554.139) by adding section 40.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 40. (1) A person that is in possession of land that is
held open to the public for business or commercial purposes is not
liable for personal injury to an individual who is on or near the
land, or damage to the individual's property, caused by another
individual's use of a firearm.
(2) This section does not apply if the person in possession of
land has posted the land with a sign prohibiting individuals from
bringing a firearm onto the land.
