HOUSE BILL No. 4401

A bill to amend 1964 PA 286, entitled
"An act to provide for the organization, powers, and duties of the
state transportation commission and the state transportation
department; to provide for the appointment, powers, and duties of
the state transportation director; to abolish the office of state
highway commissioner and the commissioner's advisory board and to
transfer their powers and duties; to provide for penalties and
remedies; and to repeal certain acts and parts of acts,"
by amending section 3 (MCL 247.803).
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 3. The governor with the advice and consent of the senate
shall appoint the first members of the commission for terms of 1,
2,
3, and 4 years, commencing on July 1,
1964. Except for terms
commenced
before the effective date of section 6a, the The term of
office
of a member of the commission shall be for is 3
years.
Vacancies on the commission shall be filled by the governor for the
unexpired
terms. Each member shall give to the people of the state
a
bond in the penal sum of $25,000.00, with sureties approved by
the
state treasurer, conditioned upon the faithful discharge of the
duties
of his or her office, the premium to be paid from the state
transportation
fund.
