HOUSE BILL No. 5410

 

 

Introduced by Reps. Santana, Robinson, Singh and Kelly.

 

     A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled

 

"Public health code,"

 

(MCL 333.1101 to 333.25211) by adding section 13107a.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 13107a. (1) A licensee shall conspicuously display a sign

 

in an area frequented by customers to warn of possible

 

disqualifications due to certain tattoos. Subject to subsection

 

(2), the sign must be in substantially the following form:

 

"WARNING:

 

Tattoos of a certain subject matter and in a certain location may

 

disqualify an individual from acceptance into military service,

 

employment by a law enforcement agency, or further promotion by a


 

law enforcement agency or within a branch of the armed services.".

 

     (2) A licensee shall ensure that the sign required under

 

subsection (1) meets all of the following requirements:

 

     (a) Is at least 8.5 inches by 11 inches in size.

 

     (b) The word "warning" is printed in at least 96-point

 

boldfaced type.

 

     (c) The balance of the sign is printed in at least 42-point

 

boldfaced type.

 

     (3) As used in this section:

 

     (a) "Armed forces" means that term as defined in section 2 of

 

the veteran right to employment services act, 1994 PA 39, MCL

 

35.1092.

 

     (b) "Law enforcement agency" means that term as defined in

 

section 2804.
