HOUSE BILL No. 5448

 

 

January 25, 2018, Introduced by Rep. Kosowski and referred to the Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs.

 

     A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled

 

"The revised school code,"

 

(MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1531m.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 1531m. (1) The superintendent of public instruction shall

 

develop a process for the expedited issuance, renewal, or

 

reinstatement of a teaching certificate for an individual who meets

 

both of the following:

 

     (a) He or she is married to a member of the Armed Forces of

 

the United States who is on active duty.

 

     (b) He or she demonstrates that his or her spouse is assigned

 

to a duty station in this state and that he or she is also assigned

 

to a duty station in this state under his or her spouse's official

 

active duty military orders.

 

     (2) The superintendent of public instruction shall promulgate

 

rules that he or she considers necessary to implement this section.

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days

 

after the date it is enacted into law.
