A bill to amend 1905 PA 299, entitled
"An act to provide for changing and determining the names of
divorced women,"
by amending the title and section 1 (MCL 552.391).
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
TITLE
An act to provide for changing and determining the names of
divorced
women individuals.
Sec.
1. The circuit courts of this state, whenever a decree In
a
judgment of divorce, is
granted, a court may, at the instance of
the
woman request of a party, whether complainant plaintiff or
defendant,
decree to restore to her her the party the party's birth
name,
or the surname she the
party legally bore prior to her before
the
marriage, to the husband in the
divorce action, or allow her
the party to adopt another surname if the change is not sought with
any fraudulent or evil intent.
Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect
unless Senate Bill No.____ or House Bill No. 5766(request no.
04697'11) of the 96th Legislature is enacted into law.
