September 11, 2012, Introduced by Reps. Slavens, Segal, Bauer, Tlaib, Hovey-Wright, Townsend, Hobbs, McCann, Brunner, Ananich, Smiley, Rutledge, Stanley, Lipton, Barnett, Switalski, Constan, Darany, Byrum, Lindberg, Nathan and Brown and referred to the Committee on Redistricting and Elections.

 

     A bill to amend 1976 PA 388, entitled

 

"Michigan campaign finance act,"

 

(MCL 169.201 to 169.282) by adding section 45a.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 45a. A person holding elective office who changes his or

 

her political party affiliation after the time he or she is elected

 

and before the end of his or her term of office shall reimburse,

 

with interest, each person that made a contribution to the

 

candidate committee of that elected official in the prior year.
