A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled
"The revised school code,"
(MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1308b.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 1308b. (1) Not later than November 1, 2019, the
department and the department of state police shall develop and
implement a school safety certification program that is based on
the findings of the school safety task force created under
Executive Order No. 2018-5, that creates standards for quality
school security practices, and that awards a school safety
certification to schools.
(2) A school that receives a school safety certification under
the school safety certification program developed and implemented
under subsection (1) may publicly display the certification to
demonstrate satisfaction of the standards of the school safety
certification program.
Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days
after the date it is enacted into law.
