A bill to amend 1939 PA 280, entitled
"The social welfare act,"
(MCL 400.1 to 400.119b) by adding section 14k.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 14k. (1) At the time a retail establishment accepts a
Michigan bridge card for a purchase, the retailer shall verify the
Michigan bridge card user's identification. The retailer shall only
allow an individual listed on the Michigan bridge card to use that
card.
(2) Verifying the Michigan bridge card user's identification
required in subsection (1) shall include an examination of an
official Michigan operator's or chauffeur's license, an official
state personal identification card, a military identification card,
or any other bona fide picture identification that establishes the
Michigan bridge card user's identity.
(3) A retailer who violates this section is guilty of a
misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not more than $50.00 for each
violation.
