A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled
"Michigan election law,"
by amending section 472a (MCL 168.472a), as amended by 2016 PA 142.
the people of the state of michigan enact:
Sec. 472a. (1) The Except as otherwise provided in subsection (2), the signature
on a petition that proposes an amendment to the constitution or is to initiate
legislation shall must not be counted if the signature was
made more than 180 days before the petition is filed with the office of the
secretary of state.
(2) If the governor declares a state of emergency, the 180-day time limit for petition signatures to be counted in subsection (1) must be extended and the extension must equal the total number of days that the declared state of emergency exists.
