SENATE BILL NO. 146

March 07, 2023, Introduced by Senators WOJNO, OUTMAN, SANTANA, KLINEFELT, CHANG and HUIZENGA and referred to the Committee on Veterans and Emergency Services.

A bill to amend 1985 PA 87, entitled

"William Van Regenmorter crime victim's rights act,"

(MCL 780.751 to 780.834) by adding section 3a.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 3a. (1) Subject to subsection (2), in addition to providing a victim notice by the means otherwise required under this article, a court, the department of corrections, the department of health and human services, a law enforcement agency, a county sheriff, and a prosecuting attorney shall provide each notice required under this article to a victim utilizing the system created and maintained under the Michigan public safety citizen communications system modernization act.

(2) The requirement to utilize the system described under subsection (1) begins on the date the office of the Michigan public safety communications system certifies that the system is online and ready for use as required under section 11 of the Michigan public safety citizen communications system modernization act.

Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days after the date it is enacted into law.

Enacting section 2. This amendatory act does not take effect unless Senate Bill No. 145 of the 102nd Legislature is enacted into law.
