SENATE BILL No. 362

 

 

May 5, 2011, Introduced by Senators BIEDA and JONES and referred to the Committee on Families, Seniors and Human Services.

 

 

 

     A bill to amend 1939 PA 280, entitled

 

"The social welfare act,"

 

(MCL 400.1 to 400.119b) by adding section 14m.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 14m. Subject to any requirements established in federal

 

statute, rule, or regulation, any person who has been found by a

 

state or federal court or administrative agency in a hearing under

 

this act to have intentionally obtained cash by purchasing products

 

with supplemental nutrition assistance program benefits that have

 

containers that require return deposits, discarding the product,

 

and returning the container for the deposit amount shall be

 

ineligible for supplemental nutrition assistance program benefits

 

for a period of time to be determined by the department.
