SENATE BILL No. 418

 

 

May 31, 2017, Introduced by Senator EMMONS and referred to the Committee on Families, Seniors and Human Services.

 

 

     A bill to amend 1939 PA 280, entitled

 

"The social welfare act,"

 

(MCL 400.1 to 400.119b) by adding section 13a.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 13a. The department shall cooperate with the state

 

transportation department to promote public awareness regarding the

 

national human trafficking hotline. Promotion of public awareness

 

includes, but is not limited to, displaying public awareness signs

 

in high-risk areas that include, but are not limited to, all of the

 

following:

 

     (a) Truck stops.

 

     (b) Bus stations.

 

     (c) Train stations.

 

     (d) Airports.

 

     (e) Rest stops.

     (f) Any premises with a liquor license.

 

     (g) Emergency rooms.

 

     (h) Urgent care centers.

 

     (i) Farm labor contractors.

 

     (j) Privately operated job recruitment centers.

 

     (k) Large-scale sporting events.

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days

 

after the date it is enacted into law.
