March 1, 2016, Introduced by Senators BRANDENBURG, GREEN, SHIRKEY, EMMONS, HUNE and COLBECK and referred to the Committee on Families, Seniors and Human Services.

 

 

 

     A bill to amend 1939 PA 280, entitled

 

"The social welfare act,"

 

(MCL 400.1 to 400.119b) by adding section 57aa.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 57aa. A food assistance or cash assistance recipient

 

shall not use his or her electronic benefit transfer card to

 

purchase uncooked seafood, meat, or poultry if that uncooked

 

seafood, meat, or poultry is to be cooked on the premises where

 

purchased.

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days

 

after the date it is enacted into law.
