SENATE BILL NO. 827
A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled
"The insurance code of 1956,"
(MCL 500.100 to 500.8302) by adding section 3406cc.
the people of the state of michigan enact:
Sec. 3406cc. An insurer that delivers, issues for delivery, or renews in this state a health insurance policy that provides coverage for perinatal and gynecological services shall provide coverage for gynecological or perinatal care services provided in a health facility or agency as that term is defined in section 20106 of the public health code, 1987 PA 368, MCL 333.20106, or the individual's home, by a physician, nurse midwife, or licensed midwife acting within the scope of his or her license or specialty certification and shall reimburse all eligible providers within the scope of the provider's practice in a manner that does all of the following:
(a) Promotes high-quality, cost-effective, and evidence-based care.
(b) Promotes high-value, evidence-based payment models.
(c) Prevents risk in subsequent pregnancies.
Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect unless Senate Bill No.____ or House Bill No.____ (request no. 00315'23 *) of the 102nd Legislature is enacted into law.
