SENATE BILL No. 953

 

 

April 18, 2018, Introduced by Senator MARLEAU and referred to the Committee on Insurance.

 

 

     A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled

 

"The insurance code of 1956,"

 

(MCL 500.100 to 500.8302) by adding section 2247.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 2247. A life insurer that delivers, issues for delivery,

 

or renews in this state a life insurance policy shall not cancel a

 

life insurance policy unless written notice of the cancellation is

 

mailed by certified mail, return receipt requested, to the insured

 

at the last address known by the life insurer either through its

 

records or the personal records of the insurance producer who wrote

 

the policy, or as supplied by the insured.
