SENATE BILL No. 966

 

 

November 4, 2009, Introduced by Senators BROWN and CASSIS and referred to the Committee on Commerce and Tourism.

 

 

 

     A bill to amend 1965 PA 166, entitled

 

"An act to require prevailing wages and fringe benefits on state

projects; to establish the requirements and responsibilities of

contracting agents and bidders; and to prescribe penalties,"

 

by amending section 8 (MCL 408.558).

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 8. (1) The provisions of this This act shall does not

 

apply to contracts entered into or the bids made before the

 

effective date of this act March 31, 1966.

 

     (2) This act does not apply to a bidder on a contract for a

 

state project in a year that the bidder is required to pay either

 

the solvency tax under section 19a of the Michigan employment

 

security act, 1936 (Ex Sess) PA 1, MCL 421.19a, or additional

 

federal unemployment taxes under the reduced credit provisions of

 


section 3302(c) of the federal unemployment tax act, 26 USC

 

3302(c).
