A bill to amend 2006 PA 384, entitled
"Driver education provider and instructor act,"
by amending section 55 (MCL 256.675).
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec.
55. (1) Before a driver education provider shall provide
provides behind-the-wheel driver education course instruction to an
adult or truck driver training student, the provider shall verify
that the student has a valid temporary instruction permit issued by
the secretary of state under section 306 of the Michigan vehicle
code, 1949 PA 300, MCL 257.306. A valid commercial learner's permit
issued to a truck driver training student by a state other than
this state satisfies the requirements of this subsection.
(2) The secretary of state may prescribe the method and manner
that
a driver education provider shall use uses to verify a
student's temporary instruction permit under this section.
Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days
after the date it is enacted into law.
Enacting section 2. This amendatory act does not take effect
unless Senate Bill No. 978
of the 98th Legislature is enacted into law.
