SENATE BILL No. 984

 

 

November 12, 2009, Introduced by Senators BROWN and CROPSEY and referred to the Committee on Campaign and Election Oversight.

 

 

 

     A bill to amend 1976 PA 388, entitled

 

"Michigan campaign finance act,"

 

(MCL 169.201 to 169.282) by adding section 44a.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 44a. (1) A person shall not make a contribution to

 

another person with the agreement or arrangement that the person

 

receiving the contribution will then endorse a particular

 

candidate.

 

     (2) A person that violates this section is guilty of a

 

misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than 90 days or

 

a fine of not more than $1,000.00, or both.
