Senator Hertel offered the following resolution:

Senate Resolution No. 68.

A resolution to recognize July 26-28, 2019, as the Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union and Muscular Dystrophy Association’s “Fill the Boot Weekend.”

Whereas, Members of the Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union risk their lives every day to serve and protect communities and have become a symbol of pride, honor, and strength throughout Michigan; and

Whereas, 2019 celebrates the 65th anniversary of the partnership between the International Association of  Fire Fighters (IAFF) and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) in the fight against neuromuscular diseases; and

Whereas, IAFF fire fighters have raised more than $650 million dollars, including more than $5 million dollars from the Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union, in support of the MDA’s many causes; and

Whereas, Through their daily service to communities and their dedication to the MDA, our local fire fighters contribute greatly to the well-being of all citizens; and

Whereas, In support of our local fire fighters, the Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union and the Muscular Dystrophy Association announce that July 26-28, 2019, be known as “Fill The Boot Weekend;” now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the Senate, That the members of this legislative body recognize July 26-28, 2019, as the Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union and Muscular Dystrophy Association’s “Fill the Boot Weekend;” and be it further

Resolved, That we applaud the dedicated service and contribution that our fire fighters provide to the residents of Michigan and to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
