1.2relating to gambling; allowing card clubs to conduct banked high-stakes card
1.3games;amending Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 240.30, subdivision 8.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 240.30, subdivision 8, is amended to read:
1.6 Subd. 8. Limitations. The commission may not approve any plan of operation
1.7under subdivision 6 that exceeds any of the following limitations:
1.8(1) the maximum number of tables used for card playing at the card club at any one
1.9time, other than tables used for instruction, demonstrations, or tournament play, may not
1.10exceed50 100. The table limit exception for tournament play is allowed for only one
1.11tournament three tournaments per year that lasts each last for no longer than 14 days;
1.12(2)except as provided in clause (3), no wager may exceed $60 maximum bet
1.13amounts and maximum buy-ins must be set by the commission and may only be changed
1.14once per year by the commission;
1.15(3)for games in which each player is allowed to make only one wager or has a
1.16limited opportunity to change that wager, no wager may exceed $300 in establishing
1.17maximum bet amounts and buy-in amounts, the commission shall attempt to set levels that
1.18would allow at least one table to operate with unlimited bets and shall set all betting and
1.19buy-in limits at rates deemed to be competitive with those in neighboring states.
1.20EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective on July 1, 2011.
