1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION.
1.6$....... is appropriated in fiscal year 2014 from the general fund to the Minnesota
1.7Historical Society to commission a bust of former United States Supreme Court Justice
1.8Harry A. Blackmun and install it on the second floor of the State Capitol opposite the bust
1.9of former Chief Justice of the United States Warren E. Burger. Justice Blackmun served
1.10on the United States Supreme Court from 1970 to 1994. Many of his years on the high
1.11court coincided with those of Chief Justice Warren E. Burger, his childhood friend and
1.12schoolmate in St. Paul. Justice Blackmun also served on the United States Court of
1.13Appeals for the Eighth Circuit from 1959 to 1970, and was resident counsel to the Mayo
1.14Clinic and Mayo Association in Rochester, Minnesota, from 1950 to 1959.
