1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to transportation; highways; requiring certain programming for
1.3expansion along a segment of marked Interstate Highway 35W.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.5    Section 1. INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 35W LEGISLATIVE PRIORITY.
1.6    Subdivision 1. Definitions. For purposes of this section, the following terms have
1.7the meanings given:
1.8(1) "commissioner" means the commissioner of transportation; and
1.9(2) "Interstate Highway 35W project" means construction or reconstruction of
1.10marked Interstate Highway 35W with an additional general purpose lane of travel in each
1.11direction, from the interchange at Anoka County State-Aid Highway 23 (Lake Drive) in
1.12the city of Lino Lakes to the interchange at marked Interstate Highway 35.
1.13    Subd. 2. Project programming. The commissioner shall include the Interstate
1.14Highway 35W project in the next regular update to the statewide transportation
1.15improvement program. The Interstate Highway 35W project must remain in the statewide
1.16transportation improvement program until it is completed, and it may not be delayed from
1.17the initial date of scheduled commencement unless the commissioner (1) identifies special
1.18unforeseen circumstances; and (2) submits a notification, including specific reasons for
1.19the delay, to the chairs and ranking minority members of the legislative committees with
1.20jurisdiction over transportation policy and finance.
1.21EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
