1.2relating to local government; authorizing Carlton County to levy a tax for certain
1.3cemetery purposes;amending Laws 1999, chapter 243, article 6, section 11.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. Laws 1999, chapter 243, article 6, section 11, is amended to read:
1.6 Sec. 11. CEMETERY LEVY FOR SAWYER BY CARLTON COUNTY.
1.7Subdivision 1. Levy authorized. Notwithstanding other law to the contrary, the
1.8Carlton county board of commissioners may annually levy in and for the unorganized
1.9township of Sawyer an amountup to $1,000 annually for cemetery purposes, beginning
1.10with taxes payable in 2000 and ending with taxes payable in 2009.
1.11Subd. 2. Effective date. This section is effective June 1, 1999, without local
1.12approval.
1.13 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE; LOCAL APPROVAL.
1.14Section 1 applies to taxes payable in 2013 and thereafter, and is effective the day
1.15after the Carlton county board of commissioners and its chief clerical officer timely
1.16complete their compliance with Minnesota Statutes, section 645.021, subdivisions 2 and 3.
