1.2relating to transportation; mass transit; establishing skyway access requirements
1.3for the Bloomington stations on the Hiawatha Corridor light rail transit line.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. HIAWATHA CORRIDOR LIGHT RAIL TRANSIT; BLOOMINGTON
1.6STATION ACCESSIBILITY.
1.7(a) For purposes of this section:
1.8(1) "council" has the meaning given in Minnesota Statutes, section 473.121,
1.9subdivision 3; and
1.10(2) "pedestrian skyway system" has the meaning given in Minnesota Statutes,
1.11section 469.125, subdivision 4.
1.12(b) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, for the Bloomington Central Station
1.13and the 28th Avenue Station on the Hiawatha Corridor light rail transit line, the council
1.14shall construct or establish access to a pedestrian skyway system. The council shall ensure
1.15that public access to the pedestrian skyway system is provided by an elevator located
1.16at the site of the station.
1.17EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
