1.3period after contract expiration; amending Minnesota Statutes 2010, section
1.4179A.20, subdivision 6.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 179A.20, subdivision 6, is amended to
1.7read:
1.8 Subd. 6. Contract in effect. During the period after contract expirationand prior
1.9to the date when the right to strike matures, and for additional time if the parties agree,
1.10the terms ofan existing the expired contract shall do not continue in effect and shall be
1.11enforceable upon unless the continuation is approved in a new agreement executed by both
1.12parties. Any new agreement continuing the terms of a contract for state executive branch
1.13employees must be submitted to the legislature for approval or rejection in accordance
1.14with section 3.855. Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, after contract expiration,
1.15an employer may place employees covered by the expired contract on unpaid leave of
1.16absence.
1.17EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
